I believe in taking a holistic approach and working on what is causing the urge, looking at what kind of demands you might be placing on yourself. There are usually unhelpful beliefs in place the supporting these destructive habits.
I often combine RECBH (CBT with hypnosis) which is 70% more effective than just CBT alone is an empowering approach to help someone take control of their addiction.
